SCROLL DOWN
How does StudioSparky promote innovative, collaborative and motivational self- learning for hard technical concepts and problem solving skills?
Since each module contains multiple mini-activities that are 5-10 minutes long, in a classroom setting the whole class moves forward step by step, or in an individual setting generates an interactive experience, encouraging Heroes to interact with the Mentor (and, if in a classroom, with each other) as they work to solve each challenge.
Some activities require just the curriculum and others require the Heroes to do research on the internet so they can become independent learners.
Because each module is tied to an “episode” of a science fiction “story arc”, the Heroes are highly motivated to solve problems to find out what will happen next in the story, similar to the feeling one has when watching an episode on TV that ends with a cliffhanger.
Specifically for schools, our partnerships with mobile lab providers that enable real-world experiments and can store personal digital devices enables a flexible classroom setup that encourages collaboration among students and open conversation with the teacher.
How does StudioSparky teach soft skills while learning about academic subjects both in theory and in practice?
We believe the scientists, engineers, and creatives of the future must be confident contributors, empathetic team players, clear communicators, and entrepreneurial leaders. The power of storytelling helps them grow morally and emotionally along with the protagonists of the story.
There are multiple activities in each curriculum and story-telling module. Activities can be technical (e.g., “write code to decrypt a hidden message”), design (e.g., “design a drone that can rescue a person from drowning”), or agile mindset (“adapt your proposal for building a bridge as you learn new information”). Some are designed for fixed problems and some for open-ended ones. Some are for individuals and others are for teams.
For schools what capabilities does the StudioSparky bundle offer for learning various areas of science and technology in a hybrid environment?
Our domain experts have studied at top universities like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and have industry experience ranging from world-class science research, high tech start-ups, and Silicon Valley companies. Their expertise covers areas like cloud, big data, quantum computing, algorithm design, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, robots and smart city technologies in both technical and management positions having earned multiple patents, leadership, and science awards. As a result, the curriculum we present is highly influenced by real-world experience and is designed to build skills useful in the development of new technologies as part of high-performing teams.
Via our partnerships with providers, we integrate with a modular mobile lab that has physical and networking extensions for teaching robotics, electronics, and computer programming that are easy to attach and detach to the main unit, serving as a central activity hub for student devices connected to it. This enables the lab to be positioned anywhere in the classroom and students to move around it and split their time between physical activities, or screen time.
Our digital platform contains an online catalog of courses accessible via the devices or the web that runs on the Amazon Web Services cloud platform allowing students to interact with digital applications without the need for local setup hassles either from school or home. Teachers are given access to a master device/desktop with special curriculum step-by-step instructions and visibility to student progress so they can create a workflow of short instruction time, asking students to do a quick activity, check results and then move to the next short lecture.
Integration with Apple iPads and story-telling content makes it easy to use AR either for visualizing 3D structures on top of the mobile lab or using virtual objects hidden in the classroom to create exciting puzzles for students to solve.
Does my child have to be registered via a school or can an individual parent become a mentor and register their child onto the platform?
Yes. We welcome registrations either by individuals who want to enjoy the experience together with their children or are involved in homeschooling arrangements. Simply follow the registration instructions for “individuals” instead of “schools”.
You will be given access to all mentor materials including curriculum, answer sheets and story guides.
For schools, do StudioSparky Campaigns integrate with Google or Microsoft classroom tools?
Yes. We tried to design StudioSparky to be agnostic to Learning Management Systems.
Our infrastructure is hosted in AWS and links from our story and course catalog can be copy-pasted into your classroom management tool or LMS. As long as students and teachers are logged in with their credentials, they can see the content from the link.
Does StudioSparky work with operating systems such as Windows or Android in tablets?
Our online application has been tested with the Chrome web browser so any operating system that supports Chrome will be OK.
